Frequently Asked Questions
Does having Cosmetic Tattooing hurt?
You will be very comfortable. I apply a topical numbing cream first and then use another anaesthetic during the treatment.
How many years experience should the Cosmetic Tattooist have?
This is a tricky question, as everyone has to start somewhere. I would suggest a more mature tattooist for a more mature woman though (a little more age identifiable). I have been Cosmetic Tattooing for over 14 years now and have been contracted to salons throughout Melbourne to perform their tattooing.
What if I love the way I do my make up and I'm scared Rachael won't do it as well?
This is an apprehension often heard by cosmetic tattooists. The solution is simple! You just draw in your area to be tattooed and Rachael performs her magic straight over the top!
Should I price shop for Cosmetic Tattooing?
This is your face. Do not price shop. Cosmetic Tattooing is not something you want to play around with.
What if I don't like the end result?
The consultation stage of our process is very important. Everyone is different, and I am very particular and conservative. By building a rapport I get to know you. We discuss your desired outcome in length to ensure you do love the end result.
What is the difference between this and a normal tattoo?
A normal tattoo is created using ink. We use a water soluble pigment. Normal tattoos are applied using a heavy duty machine. As a cosmetic tattooist, I use a lovely little delicate one for the face.
Does the tattooing have to be dark?
Not at all! When first applied, the work will appear to be 30-40% thicker and darker for 4 days, after which it peels and the colour and look we have discussed is revealed.
If I am blonde, can I still have my eyebrows and eyeliner tattooed?
Most definitely yes! In fact, I master in this. We have a beautiful range of blonde inks to choose from and we use charcoal around the eyes.
Will my partner notice straight away?
We rarely hear that the husband has noticed! He will just think you look lovely.
How do I pick the correct Tattooist to perform my work?
This is a really important part of the process for you. Ring the tattooist, have a chat and ensure you can relate to them. I always encourage my ladies to come and meet me, in particular if they are quite apprehensive. It is quite reassuring to meet your tattooist and build a rapport together if you are concerned.
Can I wear makeup straight afterwards?
You cannot apply makeup to any of the areas for 4 days, although we do have a few sneaky little tricks of the trade which I can pass on though.
Is it too much to have my eyes, eyebrows and lips all tattooed on the same day?
Absolutely not. In fact, I recommend doing just that! If you are wanting all procedures performed I think it’s best to do it altogether, as this way there is just one healing time.
How will Cosmetic Tattooing or Micro Blading make me look younger?
When cosmetic tattooing or micro blading is performed beautifully by a professional, the result is very natural. I am able to give back shape, symmetry, colour, lines and shading. The results really do make you look and feel younger and better about yourself.
Is it really noticeable?
When I apply permanent makeup onto a client I only ever want to enhance natural beauty, so no, it is not dramatically noticeable. I can guarantee that people will tell you time and time again you look so well though!!!
What is feathering?
Feathering is a technique for tattooing eyebrows. It is very fine and mimics the hair stokes. Feathering is fantastic for eyebrows that are sparse or gappy.
How long does the Cosmetic Tattooing last?
Cosmetic Tattooing lasts anywhere from 3-5 years, at which time it starts to fade and lose its definition. At this stage you can have a ‘touch up’, where we redeposit the colour, possibly amend the shape (if we want to), and the cost decreases.
